Rishikesh is a Holy spot on the Ganges for Hindus. If it sounds familiar it's because Paul, John, George and Ringo spent some time here with the Maharishi. We Beatled our way up there from Delhi in an old Ambasador car with hired driver. The car ride became quite an adventure as our driver started dozing off either because he was exhausted or was drunk. At one point Deb and I were both sreaming "COW!!!" as he wasn't reacting to this beast walking in front of our car. At one point I started screaming at him to awake up!in the hope that a little adrenaline might pump him up for a few miles and that actually worked for a short time. We made the decision to leave this vehicle short of our destination which cost us a few extra rupees but may have saved our lives.
While this is a very relaxed spot within 24 hours, Quinn was charged by a teeth baring monkey, Quinn and I were chased by a cow and we were nearly run over by a 'run away' cart.
Deb mean while was blissed out attending a yoga festival.
We met a young American named Chad who was a National Geographic photographer. Looking at his magificent photos was a truly humbling experience.
