We had a great experience travelling by train to New Delhi. 26 hours, but we had sleepers and on every platform and every village we got to watch the hilarious goings on of Holi. In this festival people throw coloured powders and spray water colours at each other. I got out at one stop and got a little too close to the action... a group of young men put green powder in my freshly shaved head that made me look like a Chia pet.
Once we got to Delhi we went looking for a movie theatre. A guy by the hotel guided Chevy and I up some stairs where we could see one. At the top a tiny hand reached out of this hole in the cement and dragged some dirt into its lair. We looked at it curiously and our guide said matter of factly "That's a rat".
At the movie theatre we had a strange cultural moment... a man in a turban and a woman in a sari approached us and said in strong english accents that "it was so nice to see some 'normal' looking people." They were visiting from England and were suffering from culture shock.
