We all fell in love with Kas (pronounced cash) even the guy who sang the muslim call to prayer 'rocked'. Our hotel had a roof top restaurant with a great view of the sea and we finally got down to some school work - you can only have so many field trip days after all.
In my almost 50 years on this planet I can't remember even once when I left either my home or any place for that matter, being stopped by a soldier with a machine gun and told "No go out now". So I really didn't have a repertoire of responses at the ready when I was stopped heading out for a morning run. I figured out pretty quick that arguing the point was probably not a good option. We found out later they were picking up one of the staff who had been stalling his mandatory 16 month army service.
We had a great day sea kayaking in Kakova with out Brit guide Dean. Great to get some exercise as we went over the ruins of the sunken city A tomb with a view

. Dean explained that these commuities had baths right at the docks. All incoming sailors had to have a bath first to help reduce sickness and disease.
Dean also mentioned he never shaved himself in Turkey, he always goes to the barber. The next day I was off on my shaving adventure. Everything was going great with my shave and then he reached for these cotton balls that were in this liquid. Now I should mention that my ears have always been fertile soil for hair. It might make an interesting 'comb over' some day, but I digress. Then he lit the balls on fire... this was getting interesting, then the barber touched them on my ears over and over, I guess to singe off the offending hair. It gave a whole new meaning to the phrase 'my ears are burning'.
After the shave and ear singeing, he gave me a great upper body massage which was very relaxing. Apparently he was just lulling me into a false sense of security because then he grabbed two hand fulls of my hair and lifted me up out of the chair by my scalp. I let out a not so manly yelp and he laughed. What is it about my hair and these Turks?
