Finally the real trip feels as it has begun as we arrive overseas.
Quinn and Deb arrive at Heathrow as they are travelling on points and are picked up by cousin Dan and off to his house before you can say Bob's your uncle.
Chevy and I land in Standstead which I now understand is closer to Scotland. The train is down and every possible connection goes bad. It takes us 6 hours to arrive in Sussex (the same amount of time it took us to travel across the Atlantic).
We have a great day exploring London with Dan and Aunt Angela. At the Tower of London the Beefeater guide was very entertaining. The job used to be highly sought after (they would pay to work there) as rich prisoners would pay for special care. The condemned prisoners used to pay the executioner for a tidy beheading. The head would be held up for the crowd to see "behold the head of a traitor" then paraded to London bridge where it was placed on a spike where the birds would eat the "juicy bits".

Harrods was amazingly decadent. We could have done some serious damage to our travel budget with a kilogram of caviar selling for 7,000 dollars.

We headed off to Bill and Sheila's truly spectacular country place. We had a great time walking (not hiking) around he area and took in Lord Nelson's ship Victory and the Winchester Cathedral (is getting me down). A prize to the first person who can tell me who sang that song.

From there we headed to Stonehenge despite the fact everyone told us to give it a miss, but it is impressive. Some of the stones weighed as much as 7 elephants and they came from 240 miles away. They estimate 600 people would be required to haul one.

We had a great day in Bath although I must admit I just assumed we'd be able to have a soak which of course wasn't the case. These natural hot spring baths were built and maintained by the Romans over the first 4 centuries.
