After changing drivers at the border we were off to Lake Manyara in Tanzania, "famous" for tree climbing lions which we never saw and are "rare these days". We did see many animals here, however, including a lion. Also saw a different breed of monkey, the blue monkey. Prior we had only seen vervets (black faced).
Next it was the famous Serengeti which is basically the same park as Masai Mara (they are continuous) on the Tanzania side vs Kenya side, only 10x the size. Here we saw a ton of lions, including a couple stalking a group of thomsons near watering hole, our first look at a leopard outside of a tree, another black rhino, you get the point.
Final stop was Ngorongoro crater where the different things we saw were huge numbers of hyenas, including one coming right up to the front of the truck, and a "long" cheetah attack of thomson gazelle that ultimately failed. I'd say the chase lasted a good five seconds or more but who knows. Change in scenery at the crater was also interesting. Rainforest on one side then desert in the middle of the crater and on the side as clouds are stopped by height of crater. Ngorongoro was the last stop on safari, so I guess that is it! Back to Nairobi where dad caught his flight and I went into purgatory. What an unforgettable experience!
