Our top 5 list so far is:

1. Spelunking
There are a couple of cave systems to visit in the country.  We chose Venado Caves because the thought of exploring a cave in warm water up to our knees or waists, sounds adventurous.
I'm a bit claustrophobic, so one small section where we had to bend double and go around a corner, just about did me in.  The tour guide who brings up the lead (and didn't speak english) tapped me on the shoulder and led me around to a wide, tall easy section.

2.  Live Volcanoes
I read that only 3 people out of a million will have the opportunity to see a live volcano.  We  chose Arenal.   We know that the clouds can obscure the vision so we increased our time here to 3 days to give us a better chance.  We hear it erupt regularly.
It varies from heavy rain to a downpour.  We took our clothes to the laundromat, just to stick them in the dryer.

3.   Hot Springs
The water is warmed from the volcanoes and we chose Baldi Hot Springs.  I've never met bath water that was too hot for me, yet one pool was unbearable to all of us, even me.  It is still raining and we are still waiting to see the volcano.

   4.  Ziplining
Yup, we're harnessed into metal and leather and we're flying up to 100 feet above the ground.  - a fun thing to do while it's raining and we're waiting to see Mt. Arenal.  Our 6-yr-old loves it.  I was hesitant, but my "baby" and her guide went first, so then I had no choice, but to follow.

5. Wildlife
It's still raining and we still have things to do.  We have visited 2 national parks and have seen a flock of 200 parrots, as well as the hummingbirds and butterflies everywhere.  We hear the howler monkeys everywhere and have learned where to find them at which time of day.  The troops seem to follow the same path every day.
Yoyo's list of animals she has spotted so far is:

leaf-cutter ants
howler monkeys
scarlet macaws
vampire bats
fruit bats
land crabs
laughing falcon
sea slugs
