The Tempest, I decided
to continue in the Shakespeare vein with the movie Shakespeare
in Love.
It was a great time to
watch it, because having only seen The Tempest a day earlier, it was
much easier to imagine what it would have been like to see these
plays during Shakespeare's time.

    I had
really enjoyed this movie, and even though I thought it switched
directions a lot, it seemed to cover a lot of different topics better
than most movies even when they focus on only one story. The core
story, was the love between Shakespeare and Viola, which was made
difficult because she was rich and engaged to another man, and he was
a poor playwright. The story was further complicated by Viola's love
for acting, which was forbidden for women at the time. The play they
were putting on in the story was Romeo and Juliet, and Shakespeare
used elements from his own personal life as inspiration for the play.
I really enjoyed this part because I am reading about metafiction for
my literary salon, and I was able to understand the concept much
better by comparing it to Shakespeare in love, which is a movie about
a play that is inspired by the movie that it is based on (Confusing I

would definitely recommend this movie to other people, especially
people who have had difficulty with Shakespeare before. Not only does
the movie make his writing more accessible, but it also makes his
life and time period seem more familiar, and it is easy to see how
similar people are even though they live in vastly different times.
