We've been so busy and our schedule has been intense!
I'm unbelievably exhausted as I still haven't had more than 6 hours of sleep a night since I've gotten here. We've walked a minimum of 4 hardcore hours each day.
today we met at 7am, took a bus to a place called Astia Antica which used to be the main port of Rome. Now the ocean has receded 3 miles away.
This was an amazing example of residential ruins layering on top of each other through over 1000 years of antiquity.
After we returned around 1:30 pm, we had 45 minutes to grab some delicious food and took off on a 5 hour bikeride. I almost didn't go as it was optional and I was EXHAUSTED as i've already mentioned, but i'm so glad I did. some of the main roads are closed to vehicles on sunday afternoons and wide open for pedestrians and bikers. These roads lead past so many of the amazing ruins of Rome. They go past the Roman Forums, the Colleseum, out one of the ancient gates to Rome, then lead into some beautiful country areas with incredible beauty and charm. It was so worth the burn and the near wreck on my rickity bike over huge cobble stone roads!
tomorrow we have to meet at 6:45 to take an hour and half bus but apparently we're going to a beautiful place with some of Italys best wines!! Yay!!
Now though, I have to go get some sleep before I fall over!
