After the business meeting, several of us went to the Veterans Day celebration in town. It wasn't big, but it was patriotic. There were displays by several local service members families. These consisted of stories, pictures, medal displays, etc. Then there was a parade with participants from the local school, a ranch or two, a float loaded with veterans, horses, long horns, fire trucks, etc. the Lackland Air Force band was supposed to be there, but d/t budget cuts, they were unable to participate. After the parade, lunch was served. Wayne Wright provided the food which was free to veterans and their wives. There must have been a lot of veterans there because I did not see any money change hands. Several people agreed that the so called leaders of our country should have been there to see what this country is all about!
After lunch we sat and talked with some of the local people. Then we had to come back to the campground for an open house at one of the RVs. We have a tradition that whenever someone gets a new motor home, they have an open house to show it off
After dinner we had a gift exchange of sorts. Everyone was to bring something eatable, then we drew a number and when that number was called, you pick out a gift. It was kind of long since there were 61 numbers and several took their time making their choice.
So basically, our day was spent eating, eating, eating, and more eating! All in all it was a fun week. Tomorrow back to the routine and Monday we start replacing the carpet in our stick and bricks bedroom with hand scraped laminate flooring. :)
