We crossed into Texas about 10 and on into Sherman. We were following the Smiths and actually were keeping up with them pretty well (they drive a diesel pusher so we had to push a little faster than we normally would have). We had to stop for gas and they continued on, so they made it to the campground about 10 minutes before us.
We passed by Dennison, TX which is the birthplace of D. D. Eisenhower. One day we will come back and visit.
The roads were pretty good and there were no ramps so Bob did not had a problem with the drive
We pulled into the campground and they parked us in site #1. The campground is right off I-20 so the traffic sounds were a little annoying during the daylight hours, but now that it is dark and we are inside with the air conditioner on, we can't hear the traffic. The campground is very nice. They have a great pool so now I need to go buy a new bathing suit.
We started the evening with snacks and drinks at one of the member's coach. There are already about 15 coaches here. We are supposed to have two visitor coaches this month and we met one of the couples tonight. Weird thing is, they are from San Antonio and lived on Judson off I-35. It's is less than 2 miles from us. He is retired army and she is retired civil service. They have been RVing since 2008. We all sat outside until about 8 pm then the party broke up.
The rally doesn't officially start until noon on Thursday, but the early arrivals have already started with the eating and drinking, this should be a good week!
