Shopping... what fun

Once again, I decided to start the day in Covent Garden. So I hopped on the tube and headed to the gardens to hit the markets. I had one goal in mind, to buy some beautiful pashminas for my Mum and my friend. I made it to Covent Garden without any issues only to realise that the markets changed depending on the day of the week. I was kicking myself for not buying them earlier, but got over it fairly quickly. I still had plenty of time left.
After I roamed around the markets and shops for a while I tried to ring my Mum's aunty to get in contact with her, however for some bizarre reason, I couldn't get in contact with her, and she wasn't even listed. I decided that 15 minutes was enough time spent trying to find her, and headed off in the direction of the shops.
I went into heaps of shops but didn't really find much (it's always the way when you are looking) so I caught the tube to Oxford street. I hit Top Shop straight away as I had been looking on their website for a while and the clothes looked pretty good. I think it's fair to say that I was less than impressed with the store itself, everything was all over the place and there were heaps of people, so I high-tailed it out of there very quickly.
After that minor disappointment I set off down Oxford Street in search of a Pirate Flag. Unfortunately, I had no luck with that particular endeavor even though I looked everywhere. I decided that finding one would be absolutely impossible. On the upside, I did find a pair of jeans (that are too long... which if you know me at all, you would know is pretty rare). I also managed to find a funky scarf from Debenhams and a very 'classy' top from a souvenir shop that reads "My daughter went to London and all she bought me back was this lousy t-shirt" or something like that. It was definitely bought as a joke rather than a fashion statement. By this point I had pretty much reached the end of Oxford Street and was mildly hungry, so I thought it would be a good idea to follow Oxford Street to the end as there was bound to be somewhere that sold food along there. It was a good theory, but that's all it was. I kept walking till I got to Park Lane and the Marble Arch, where I found a little convenience store, but by this point I wasn't really hungry anymore.
After walking around for a while longer, I headed back to the hotel to drop off my shopping and to relax for a little bit, as I had decided that I was going to go out have a nice dinner and maybe a few drinks. Later that evening I decided it would be a good time to start heading out. I headed out into what can only be described as the most horrendous weather yet. It was pouring with rain and there were really strong winds. Determined not to be put off, I continued on my way looking for somewhere to eat. In the end, all of the places were either full or very expensive. My journey wasn't completely wasted though, as I did find the Natural History Museum. It might not sound exciting, but the building looked absolutely stunning all lit up at night. I was kicking myself for not bringing my camera but dealt with it. 45 minutes later, the atrocious weather finally got to me and I admitted defeat. I ended up heading to the supermarket and getting some drinks and snacks, (oh and a book) sad I know, but oh well. As my 'big night out' ended rather early I headed back to the hotel and settled in for the night. In the end it didn't really worry me as it was my last night at the Rydges Kensington Plaza. Tomorrow morning after check-out it was off to the Royal National Hotel for one night before I began my tour of Europe.
