Shower: we have a solar bag shower that we hang up at the campsite and use from time to time. We have had to go days without a shower due to the weather. We now know to ask where the local pay shower is located. Most places have one. If you haven't paid for and taken a public shower then I highly recommend it in order to gain perspective. Not having a shower that you can jump in whenever you want will change everything in your life.
Toilet: finding a place to use the bathroom is interesting. We have been using an eco pit toilet more than anything else. This is obviously much easier for me than for Shannon, but I must say she has been a trooper and is learning a lot from this issue
Climate control: there is no controlling mother nature. It can go from sweating and 85 to rainy and 42 in just a few minutes. So when you are out in this world without a closet and no warm or cool place to go to escape, you have to be ready for everything. This means that you have to pack gear with you all the time everywhere you go. This has been tricky and a huge pain in the butt.
Stinky feet: I am struggling with body odor. Shannon has been patient with me, but every part of me is stinking. My feet and my pits are not pleasant. I have been seeking God's counsel on this, because I don't want to use deodorant and anti-persperant, and He has answered. He lead us to a natural store where I found some frankincense oil. I stood there praying over it and as I stood there in the store the Lord was ministering to me a deeper understanding of Jesus' use of oil. I have been using it and it is helping a lot. It also keeps my thinking about Jesus and how life must have been for Him. I can bear testimony to some of the reasons why the wise men brought Jesus frankincense.
Packing: we pack and unpack all the time, sometimes multiple times in a day
Water: we need to drink water all the time. We have found that when we see a forestry sign we can get water. We have been carrying one nalgene bottle each and we look for water and places to fill up our jugs. Praise God that the forestry saw fit to put in spicketts in the wilderness, hydration is a big deal.
Praisin: all these things that we are experiencing have been changing us. We are so blessed and have seen so many things since we have been traveling. God's grace is sufficient and to live that out multiple ways each day has been the most powerful experiences of our lives. We can't keep from praising Him out here on the road, praisin in the good and the bad. Right in the midst of all this wild scary adventure we are steady seeing our Fathers hand. Thank You so much Lord for all Your love and mercy and favor and blessings.
