Hello everyone,
i have been in jarabacoa for three days now and you would not believe how beautiful it is. it is a little town set in between two very big mountain sides with rivers and waterfalls every other turn. it is so nice. i do not have time today to put up pictures but later this week i will come in and put some up. Yesterday was our first day of technical training. we visited two tree nursuries or viveros near the forestry school where we are studying. i am staying with a family out in the boon docks but the land is very green and the view is ridiculous. Today we went and visited a tree plantation where we were learning about the different types of trees indigenous to the area and finding out the ways in which they cultivate the different trees and cut them down for building houses. later on today we are going to buy supplies at the store. we all get our own machete, yep that is what i said. i promise to take many pictures with mine. i am pumped about that. In the afternoons we have about an hour of good solid rain and with the tin roofs it makes it perfect timing for a good, solid nap. THey drink a lot of tang here. you know that delicious orange stuff that we drank as kids that left the ring around our mouths. That is the dish here, so tasty.
Connie and Tommy, i heard the news of our new family member to be,congrats, please send pics of emma and a newly prego connie. My parents have the new number to my house in Jarabacoa, please drop in a call when you get a chance.. i would love to talk to everyone and see how things are going. I hope to get to the cafe later this week in the midst of my lumberjacking to put some pics up. Vamos a ver. Anyways, more to report later. I hope everyone is doing well.
This afternoon we are taking tours of the viveros around the area on horse back. UM,,, this should be very fun. My cocksis is completely healed and feeling fantastic so the horse ride should be a breeze.
P.S the mosquitos here love american flesh. SO if you are planning on visiting bring a lot of long sleeves and a ton of deet. I have been desert for many of mosquitos these past few days.
Love to you all.
