Our last few days in BA were a bit calmer than the first few...couldn´t keep up the pace! The Boca Juniors game was ace last Saturday! Man they´re so into their football the atmosphere was amazing. We were higher up away from all the major chanting etc...I was kinda glad cos it was well rough down on the terraces! We saw a couple of fights so I think I might have died as a tourist who´d never been to a football game before. Everything in the stadium is concrete so they can´t throw it... police escort players on and off the pitch with riot gear...and you cant leave the stadium until the supporters of the other team leave. It was cool though!
There´s been a few more good nights out...in amongst a lovely day drinking cider on an atmospheric little Plaza on Monday which was a holiday (commemoration of Falklands War)
We came to Uruguay yesterday. Only a short hop over the water. I was so mortified on the boat - went to a buy us a sanwich but decided not to cos as far as I could see it was gonna cost 10 POUNDS!! Which was strange. So I put it back. Then some random man came up to me about 15 minutes later with afore-mentioned sandwich which he´d bought me! Then I realised that it was in Uruguayan pesos not Argentinian so probably would have cost about 50p. It was disgusting but I ate it all out of guilt.
Anyway, came to Punta Del Este, it´s a beach resort and I´m not so sure why we came here! We arrived at 3pm and went to the beach although it really wasn´t warm enough and my hoody which was acting as my beach towel was quickly returned to it´s usual use. We didn´t make it out last night cos it was after 3 until people were heading to a club. Of course I was falling asleep by then!
We´re just about to catch a bus to Montevideo and stay there for a couple of nights before going back to Argentina to head South. Gonna stop in Bahia Blanca en route to Bariloche. From there we should be able to go up into the Sierras for some walking and picturesque-ness...think that will be the Pampas...although I´m not entirely convinced! We will probably stay in Bariloche for a week before going up to Mendoza.
I´m hoping our room in Montevideo is better than the one here...9 beds in a space about the size of my kitchen table at home...there´s certainly not enough room to swing a cat in there...
