The landscape between the 2 cities is nothing fantastic but one could imagine driving between Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast. After finding a parking spot in the centre of the city (not at the same rates as Brissie) we headed off to Parliament Hill to see if we can join the local protesters of the day. Unfortunately, only some guy protesting about a corrupt government is sitting today so we pass up on this protest.
Leaving this precinct we wandered down town past another Fairmont castle (hotel) to the local market. For a site that is a must visit on Trip Adviser we must have missed the market!!!! After a less than momentous lunch, we headed off for a walk along the Unesco national historic Rideau Canal. This 175 year old 200km long canal connects Kingston with Ottawa through 47 locks. We were fortunate enough to see a boat coming in through the lock system and saw the gates being manually operated by the local workers - interesting OHS laws here where you can interact with the operators.
Enough of the Capital for today, we head back to Montreal for wine, cheese and Tim's home cooked chicken.
