Time really flies when you're having fun. Becca already went home...yesterday. Sigh. It was so nice having her around, a little piece of home that would play with me. We did so much while she was here, I don't even know where to begin. We managed to get to the city everyday (except a day or two) and bustled around there. Okay, I am so going to cheat right now. I wrote a long email about me and Becca's crazy adventure galavanting around Australia, so I am going to copy and paste it here because I am lazy. (And of course the email's in bullet style with a splash of poor grammer because I was too lazy to write a real email...bah.)

*we went to tons of places around town, like this
fruits and veggies market, the lagoon (a nice place
you can lay out), the beach, an art gallery, shopping
at this hippy store (bec made a pretty sweet bracelet
out of beads), out to eat at a bunch of different
places...basically we spent trillions of dollars.

*had a couple of nights on the town! we danced the
night away to some horrible techno and of
course...GREASE! why do they insist on playing musical
numbers at the bars and clubs around here? i just dont
get it. then we made fun of people and their lack of
rhythm. becca got stuck dancing with this kid
who had this really wierd pouty, almost painful look
on his face...i somehow dragged her away from him. we
got home the first time at 4:30 in the morning. the
second time, we had to be up early so we couldnt stay
out as late. so, we got home around 4:15 in the
morning. in the fast lane.

*we spent a lot of time at the beach (complete with a
photoshoot of course)

*then we hit up Kuranda - its a village, in the mountains,
in the rainforest. we stayed at this sweet hostel and
met some interesting characters. a lot of guys with
beards who didnt wear shoes...go figure. so, we went horseback
riding! it was...AWESOME. we got to gallop and
everything. we went down these steep, treacherous
paths, through a river, across fields, right by all
these cows, and galloped across the fields. yeah, it
was so much fun. we were with these 2 whiny girls
from new york and me and bec were afraid they were
going to ruin it and we wouldnt be able to do any cool
stuff. luckily we killed them and so it didnt even
matter...just joshin.

*in kuranda, the next morning, we took a long hike
along a railroad track to this waterfall.
unfortunately i didnt have any of my hiking/rock
climbing gear with me so we didnt make it to the
actual falls. but we did make it to this water hole
just before it and lounged around for about an hour.
after that, we visited this bat house and it was neat.
we saw live bats and a chicken who had feathers
growing out of his feet. it was weird.

*then it was time to go home. so we took the skyrail
down the mountain (its a gondala along a huge cable
that goes over the rainforest). becca was tired and
cranky, so it could have been a little more fun. oh
yeah and i forgot to mention that we took a train on
our way up the mountain. it was almost like harry
potter. that was really cool. we saw a waterfall up
close and we really liked it.

*once back in town, becca became even more grumpy when
we found out that the market closed early on sundays.
SO, we had to find a place to get souveniers for her
friends. wouldnt you know that Giftworld was just
around the corner. she got everyone boomerangs and
shot glasses for cheap. so then she was happy again.
and that was her last night here. she left at 4:30 the
next morning. its so sad not having her around anymore!

~a little side bar (i forgot to mention)~

1. mat, my boy roommate, will be gone until august 20
visiting family. yeah, he went to the airport last
wednesday. so you know how he got to the airport? I
DROVE him. thats right. i, rachel kilian, drove on the
wrong side of the road. it was nuts. becca yelled
(yeah i made her come with me) 'rachel we're gonna
DIE!!' but we didnt. because im awesome. it was pretty
scary though. the blinkers opposite, the steering
wheels opposite, the streets opposite, the cars are
opposite, i was opposite. you get it. i even took a
wrong turn, so i almost got us lost and had to U it.
U-ing it is much harder when youre U-ing the other way
on the other side of the street. yep, we almost died.

ok, so, so much for a little short email. my bullets
turned into paragraphs. oh well. i
love you guys and really miss you! sorry these emails
are so sporatic. my internet situation is still not
completely under control (wires + hungry cockatoos =
no internet or t.v. in rachels apartment).
g'day, mates!

And so that's what happens when I'm really tired from my week of utter Australian chaos. Hope you don't mind the second hand email. Oh yeah, make sure you check out our pictures and the movie I made of our adventure!
