Where I stayed
Welcome to 2010,another year...Hi all wanted to drop ya an update on my travels and my silence here....Taylor's new computer doesn't have a card reader and i didn't even think to bring mine.By the time that i send this out i will be home but wanted to share my trippin to DC..
My luggage and i reunited hmm lets see here 4 days after my arrival, but i do digress..before i left a friend gave me the heads up on the high security entering into the states...Toronto was just one of those entry points for me. I was not prepared for the insanity of security until i stepped on in..Before security i was already late as i waited on my luggage from Vancouver so that i could step into customs. When i walked into customs i remember being hit with tension, exhaustion, frustation none of it mine, however it swirled all about me and unfortunately i was stuck there in order to move forward in my travels
In my move to Harrison i lost my cell phone and didn't feel the need to replace it..There are times when that little piece of technology comes in handy there i was without,i speak about this because i forgot to bring Taylor's address and that is of the utmost importance in crossing a border..needless to say i stepped through the first hoop, the second hoop was a femail customs officer and she was brutal.. I kept it together except for under breath choice words and then i heard brutal femail customs say "Pardon Me" I plastered a big grin on my face and wished her a good day while hustling my ass into a security line because seeing Taylor was more important to me and worth keeping my outside big mouth shut!!!
The security lines filled a whole room and were around 30 people long...the panic was catching as grimly i didn't believe that i or others would make connecting flights...the lines very slowly moved along.Ahead i could see why the ongoing delays, each and everyone of us had to be patted down head to toe...Thank Goddess women for women..lets say this process was time consuming and rather uncomfortable for all parties. Finally i hustled to my gate only to be told that my flight took off even with delays, then i heard a staff say they had to empty the flight as my plane had two flat tires...Might we say divine intervention anyhow i made my way to the bar to chill cause it already had been a long ass day
So 3.5 hrs later...I arrive in Baltimore Washington 45 minutes from DC...and i add no luggage with me so file a report...I tell ya this time i was done with traveling and wanted to distance myself from the airport asap.
Together after not seeing each other physically for two years, we Taylor and I embraced like it was yesterday...
Some of u have asked what is Taylor doing in Washington DC..Taylor works for an international company called Jesco. www.usjesco.com .
She is a Retail Promotional Manager. You would see Taylor's staff at places like Sears,Kmart, etc demoing and selling items like knives, whammy clothes and more stuff.
I had a blast just hanging with this young adult....Also saw some of Washington but frankly folks i was there to spend quality time with Taylor..The highlight for me was going to the Smithsonian in particular the African American Museum i became smitten with this particular artists work Yinka Shonibare.co.uk..did u know that there are several museums over many blocks all tied to the Smithsonian and the entry cost is free
I did lots of observing mainly the black culture as its a high majority in DC,Taylor had to tell me on several occasions to stop staring lol lol..
Out of my Washington trip i gotta tell ya that i gleaned alot of ideas for more pieces for my upcoming solo show in July 2010. I would rate DC as a 6 out of 10..Truly i am ready for my next trip to be to a hot destination..stay tuned for upcoming travels....
Thanx so much for tuning in..Talk to ya all soon
