I did the hike with Patty and Tom- two people I've actually met in Bend (vs. meeting them in Garmisch). We hiked directly up the run with our snowboards strapped on our backs. Patty and Tom wussed out about an hour under the top of the Summit chair, but I continued on and had a great view from the top. After downing my yummy scone, I headed down on my snowboard. Crisp, clean, and smoooooooth turns!!! I met up with Patty and Tom and then we continued all the way down to the bottom. FANTASTIC run! Afterwards, we grabbed some food and beers at the Bend Brewing Co. and waited as others joined us.

I also did a short whitewater trip with my buddy Gabe as the guide. However, I decided about 2 minutes into the "real" whitewater section of the "Big Eddy" rapid that boats were highly overrated. I pitched myself overboard and "elected" to swim the rest of the way. Anyone who wants to think that they may actually drown at any minute is welcome to try the same ;). Needless to say, both my butt and my shins caught a few rocks and sported some purple decorations.
