A long layover in Seattle tonight before I head out for the tripo. Yikes, heh? Spent last night with my buddies eating some pretty good food, drinking wine, and finally WINNING (!!) a game of Rummy. TAKE THAT peeps! (Yes, I absolutely suck and had been blasted 3 days in a row). Marion and I stayed up so she could watch my House episodes on my computer. I've turned her into an addict.... it's just like those marijuana commercials. I feel better when other people are doing it with me ;)
I awoke this morning still tired, but ready. I packed my things, talked to my friends some more, and then Mike came and picked me up. We swung by Mother's for a sandwich (yummy turkey with avocado, havarti, mustard, oh my!) and a smoothie. I do loooove Bend and it's restaurants. And the people aren't half bad either ;) I thought we were running a little late since my flight left at 14:15 and it was already 13:00, so we got it to go. I made it to the airport around 13:30, checked in, and still had to wait. Gotta love small airports... so easy.
The flight was uneventful. Lovely little turboprop flight where I just rested my head and daydreamed. Sarah came and picked me up with the little one for whom she is nanny, in tow. All things considered, cool kid. Of course, I haven't seen him scream.
Sarah's house is quaint- I don't know when it was built, but it's got a nice rustic look to it and a fabulous garden/backyard area. Small dog (Rosa) and new cat Rocket make it complete. I've just grabbed a coffee from down the street and I'm feeling more myself.
So tomorrow is the day. Bangkok. I probably should be nervous. But I'm not. I suppose that's a good thing, right? Maybe it has something to do with the fact that it's a really long flight and I still have time to become nervous. Personally, I'm looking forward to the not thinking part- the part where my decisions are either based from physical need ( food or shelter) or cultural desires (wat or museum?). All the other things fade away when you're travelling. And I can't wait.
