Bangalore City Market, Colorful life!

On Sunday I planned to meet with a working colleague in the evening. Lots of time to discover more of the city!
A fast rickshaw ride took me to the Bangalore City Market! A festival for all of my senses! From the outside the building does not look very pleasant, a muddy place covered with mainly vegetable waste where several cows try to find some eatables. But inside it is different! Everywhere are small booths selling fruits and vegetables of all sizes and colors! Yellow mangos and bananas, green salads and cucumbers, red tomatoes, white onions and garlic! The different flavors are amazing! You steep from the sweet air of one booth right into the herb taste of garlic. Some vendors have peaked mountains of powder in all colors in front of them. It's for the dot on the forehead which lots of people have here.
Others sell herbs and spices, sugar and pepper! It is very interesting! Another big hall welcomes me with even more new perfumes. Flowers are sold here. In big bags or binded together to long chains! Once more a colorful world. The sounds I can here are of course mainly the selling and buying talks between the people. Still everywhere there is the clatter of these old fashioned balances. The goods are sold against weight. It is busy vendors putting weights on the one side of the balance and goods on the other side! Less than a second for checking if it is correct they are already asking for the payment! When I step out of the market again the stink of the outside waste and cow dung is unbelievable. I buy a coconut and drink the milk through a straw before I went back to my accommodation.
In the evening I meet a working colleague in 'the Forum'. It is like a culture shock! 'The Forum' is a very modern shopping mall. Totally different to the market in the morning. All the expensive brands are sold here and the well known fast food restaurants attract the most customers. We are having some nice Mexican food and enjoy some talks. I did not take my camera with me but I think you can easily compare this place to any other shopping mall in the world! More thumbnails ...
