So when we left Gainesville yesterday at 530pm, the idea was that we could hopefully get to South Carolina and find a hotel for the night to crash in. This seemed rather unlikely as we crossed into Georgia just after 11pm. However, after several redbulls and starbucks doubleshots, we found ourselves finally pulling over at a highway rest area at 3am just north of Columbia, SC. Sleeping in the jeep across the seats seemed like a good idea at the time, until I woke up at 445am sweating like hell and with a stiff neck. So I made the decision rather quickly that I wasn't stopping again until I reached the rv. Luckily this was only about 170 miles later.

When we arrived at the Tom Johnson's camping center at 730am they were not yet open. I figured we'd just go grab some breakfast nearby, but turns out that the GM of the dealership pulled up right after us and welcomed us in for some coffee.

By 9am, we were inside of our RV- a 2000 37' Fleetwood Discovery Diesel. This thing is fantastic- diesel generator, slide-out, washer/dryer, satellite tv dish installed, 2 leather sofas, including one that folds flat to a full-size bed.

I'd brought with me a 6' wide set of real Texas Longhorns from home that used to hang above my signed Ricky Williams jersey. I asked this dude Nick to help me find a way to put them on the front of the rv, and he had em bolted on there inside of 20 minutes. They look absolutely badass. Nick is a pretty amazing guy- he had just shown up that morning after pulling an all nighter as a paid firefighter at a station about 40 miles away. He also is a volunteer firefighter at a different town 15 miles away, has his own tree cutting business, and also takes night classes in chemistry at a local community college. On top of that, he served 2 tours of duty in Iraq as a sniper.

Nick spent over an hour walking us through every gizmo and gadget throughout the rv (there seem to be hundreds of them). We videotaped the whole thing to use as a reference later. Then we took him out to a bbq lunch for being so helpful.

The dealership has a campground nextdoor that new owners can spend the night adjusting to their new surroundings. We wanted to go explore Asheville since it was close by, and we found a cool little organic cafe right downtown that was excellent. Unfortunately most of the shops were closed when we got there (930pm on a Tuesday) otherwise I'm sure Jeska would have found a bunch of junk to load up the rv with (it was hippy central).

We made it back to camp around 11pm and crashed immediately.
