Tuesday, Shani, Asma and Jane escorted me to Mombasa Airport. It was a kind send-off.

I arrived in Nairobi safely and fought my way through the taxi drivers to a telephone. I caled Margaret's sister, Beatrice, who was to hold on to some of my luggage while I went to Meru. When I met her at her office, she wanted me to send my things home with her or leave them in her office. I didn't feel comfortable doing either. I had to decide between going to Meru with all my stuff, or flying back to the U.S. a week early. I got a decent hotel room and some chapati with greens and waited for guidance.

The next morning I went to the South African Airways office to see my options. They said there was plenty of room on all flights. I decided to do it. Why hang in the middle of Kenya for another week when I have a stack of work to do back in the States?

I still had some hours before my flight. I found a cheap international phone and made some calls. I also made a local call to Tony Benji, a Twelve Tribes member I met through sister Joan in Shashamane and Beverly Miller at the U.N. in Nairobi. He invited me to reason with him over lunch. I love telling people about Shashamane. They are always happy for news from the land. He knew Christopher Liontree (www.motherlandintlrelations.org) in North Carolina and asked me if I had heard any Midnite. He was the first Afrikan to mention them to me. We traded contacts and promised to stay in touch after much good conversation.

Finally, Tony helped me find some special matches (Farasi (Horse) Matches, only in Kenya, are the best matches in the world, I'm sure.) I'd been meaning to export, and negotiated a taxi to the airport for me.

I got there, changed my ticket and got on the plane. It was an easy flight to Johannesburg, where I'd overnight. Crosby picked me up right away from the airport. What a friend! We went home to reason about the three months plus since I saw him last.
