It turned out to be a 7.5 just on the Mozambique side of the border. I think around four people died as a result. The major cities were far enough from the epicenter.
Yesterday we had a crazy thunderstorm. The lightning was flashing right above my room. Twice sparks came out of the outlets. I'd say at least three inches fell in less than an hour. When it was over, I saw a sunset I'll never forget. There have been so many extremely humbling and amazing moments on this trip. They just keep coming.
And today, I got the Kufundees out to the Zimbabwean National Botanical Gardens, one of the premier gardens on the continent. It costs about thirty U.S. cents for admission. We didn't have all day, but we saw some beautiful trees (and giant bamboos) and some really nice exhibits (like the herb garden, desert house and fruit trees). All the while we had a great time.
