I forgot to mention the giant rocks that dot the landscape around here. Its like Elephant Rocks but more spread out for miles and miles. It's solid granite - a boulder climber's paradise. Check the photos. I haven't been able to climb a big one yet.

I'm still eating lots of sadza and teaching permaculture. We've switched into a work phase since I showed the Kufundees deep mulching. They loved it and figured it out immediately. So, we've been deep mulching around the school and dining hall, and directly under the few valuable fruit trees that survived the last dry season - two citrus, an apple and a plum. The deep mulch should ensure their survival. I'm busy looking for more seeds and trees to plant. Fruit is expensive here and nobody buys it, otherwise we'd have plenty of fruit seeds.

I did some mushroom hunting with Lorraine and her baby son, Takwana, on Monday. We found some nice chantrelles and some blewit-looking ones that seem closly related. We cooked them for breakfast on Tuesday with, what else, sadza. The chantrelles here have much more gill-like gills than our chantrelles at home. They're still not really gills, or more like really thick gills. Check the photos.

One of the Kufundees, David, also called Divha, is re-teaching me the mbira. I learned a song or two my senior year at college, but it has been a while. Once he showed me Chamtengure, I picked it right up again. It's been really nice to hear and play some mbira after all this time, though my thumbs are blistered. I took a few video clips.
