We did well not to feel to trapped in the house (though I was often locked in as S. Africans are crazy about security). We got out to the big herb and root market at Faraday St. yeasterday. The plant and animal parts seemed to spread out forever. Its held in what looks like an old bus station, and is probably frequented by many sangomas. Yesterday it was quite slow.
I got to make some good meals, as long as the power stayed on, and I've had some very inspiring and enlightening conversations with so many beautiful people
For those who know anything about the situation in Zimbabwe, I'll let you know if any of it is true. I'll be there a month, outside Harare. I'll send out proper phone numbers when I get them straight. I've heard a few outrageous rumors about the government's policies, but I've also heard that the Zimbabwean people are as ginuine and cool as ever. Some are hurting badly now, having had their homes and businesses deemed "illegal" and bulldozed. Just don't worry about me. Pray for all of us.
