We arrived in Swakopmund before sunset and I rushed to the beach. I jumped in just as the sun touched the water. When the sun is near the horizon here it moves very fast because we are so near the equator. It was gone within a few seconds. I jumped in once more, got out and went back to the hostel to relax and eat. It was a full day - desert dunes to salty sea.

And so here I am finally done catching up on these entries. Today, we are having personal free time in the morning, and we'll take a day trip to see the ancient welwitschia plants in the middle of the desert.

All in all, this trip so far (6 days) has been nothing short of magical. My companions and I are already a tight family. I've provided much reggae for the rides.
All is well and good.

Hi Chris:

I love your TravelPod communication. You are one amazing person. Thank you for including me in your everyday experiences. I can now live in Afrika vicariously through your writing. Hot springs, sand dunes, puffballs and acorns, good people and you. Mmmm. I am looking forward to your next entry. Love and fascinating travels to you.... Maxine
