wow i never knew a city had so many art galleries!

well yesterday was memorial day, so that was classed as a bank holiday, and it was busy evrywhere with people of work and spending time with their families, whihc is nice

but similar to UK the US feels like home, nowhere is closed and its nothing like NZ, im still missing the safety of the place in NZ, here you have to be on the ball all the time
yesterday i saw two teenagers trying to steal someones bag, never saw that in NZ, even in the cities crime was still pretty low compared to being here in the states
Though never doing states before or coming here, Minneoplis was a good place to start
its one of the top 5 cities to live in the whole of the USA!
Portland in Oregan is higher up

it was good yesterdya though with the bank holiday the whole Ward family was off, so we went to Minneohi park
it haas a pretty waterfalll and we had a traditional american picnic :) great fun

i taught the family poohsticks :) along the bridge where the Mississipi river continues its route to the gulf of Mexico

Today was a day of finishing of the museums
only one more day left here in Minnesota
so went to the Minneosta institue of arts, whihc was fantastic!!! it was free and i saw some amazing art work and learnt some information on areas of the world that i hadnt looked into

the art gallery had many feautures on China, Japan, Korea and a familiar place Africa
i learnt a lot about China though, and Buddhism was referenced due to there being ,many sculptures to do with the religioin

It was great to see some familiar artifacts from Africa :) i do miss that continent
though the museum was out of date on this section

but the galleries were HUGE!!!!!!! you walk on for ages and ages!!

upstairs were paintings, not as many figures or sculptures
and it was greatto get back inot my art knowlegde seeing impressionism work, and seeing a 'vincent van gogh' is always great!

then near the institute of art is the 'American Swedish institute' a museum based on the swedish migrating to this part of america
as Minnesota had the 2nd largest swedish immigration compared to Chicago
very interesting house
the museum was in a beautiful ealry 1900's house with mahgonny evrywhere and beautiful elegant features
no pictures allowed sadly
but the museum was laid out well with the history and describition of how the swedish immiggrated and why
and also certain traditions from sweden were displayed for evryone to see
