Hey all Merry Christmas should i say, well i know everyone at home wil be gtting ready for the festivities for the next few days!

yesterday and today have been hands on a bit but really good fun!!!

yesterday we went to fox glacier, and Johnny was my guide again as he had been here before

We ventred and wallked to the glacier, as we dont have a car, a car is definitly handy for NZ

It was good on foot thoguh as we got to go over the original bridge first ever put in place when the old victorians used to come
beore the bridge women used to have to wade thourhg the cold water running off from the glacier

Franz josef is another famus glacier 10mins up the road from here, but has the most tourists
fox glacier eceives loads of tourists stil but not as many

the glaciers were formed over 18,000 years ago during the last ice age
both glaciers reached the sea
it was because both glaciers went back further than their current positions in the thaw and when in the 1500s a mini ice age came, the glaciers have advanced and reached their greatest extent in 1750

Now both huge tourist icons on the west coast, you can have helicopter rides, ice climbing, walk on the glacier, but all for very expensive prices

New Zealand definitly does make sure they can make the most money out of tourists, by charging a lot of money to see natural wonder
I went to Iceland and was able to walk on glaciers, i didnt have to pay!

we had a great walk through the trees to get to the glacier and we had to step stone across uge rivers which wasnt easy, very slippy, like a puzzle, real good fun!
the view was great but still you werent that closer, but closer than the travellers who just drove up in their campervans

then the evening of pasta and watchinn forrest gump, nice relaxing evening

This morning i purposely got up early so i could reach Lake Madison, which is one of the most photographs you'll see in NZ, why you ask
well the reflection in Lake Madison is of Mt Cook the highest peak in New Zealand reaching over 3,000m
The walk without a car was long but with the sun shining it was a pleasant walk
i did listen to christmas music i tried to get into the spirit
45mins later reached it, it was another tourist hot spot
didnt get to walk around the whole lake, pretty big, due to having to rush back to get ready for the bus to Wanaka
walked as fast as i could, made it with Johnnny still putting things away
we made it though!

the drive to wanaka was definitly one of the best drives
the lakes we saw were gorgeous
awe inspiring views of the mountains coming up to Wanaka made you feel  like it was going to be a lovely place to stay for Crimbo

when we arrived at 3ish we had to leg it to the supermarket to get the roast chikin and the rest of the veggies and treats for christmas tomorow
afterwards we chilled out and had christmas eve dinner, bangers and mash, (Johnny chose)
and prepared for christmas dinner
seriously you dont appreciate your parents and grandparents and aunties and uncles coking at christmas until you start to organise your own!!!
