After a long journey from Port Maquerie up to 'Newie' as the locals call this home town i had Kris waiting for me which is alway great to have!!
Kris who i met in India wearing her business clothes and no longer asian cultural clothing looked so different, but really well she had caught the aussie sun too!!

Kris gave me a tour of the big town and we had a lovely drink on the harbour front
Newie is a big industrial town, with ships from all over the world mainly Asia waiting in line out to sea to come in and get coal
Steel works was one of the main industries but shut down over 10 yrs ago
the city has tried to be rejuvenated and today i spent time doing all the toursty main attractions

from viewing the huge town from the obelix to also the queen tower looking over he harbour the views givve yo a chance to see how big the town is
also i went to 'the lockup museum' whihc is the cells that the past convicts were put in
convicts were brought up from Sydney to be locked away if they were not obeying
also 'Nobbys head' whihc is the sea wall barrier with a lightohouse on and a beautiful walk out to see with the waves lashing out
also the beaches were a lovely walk in genral, Newie is fampous for surfing and you can see why as the waves are huige!!!
spent the evening watching a film at the cinema based on Afghanstan children in hosptial
the film/documentary was produced by a Newcastle father and the documentary was based on two peopel from Newie a clown doctor and his wife trying to help the children in afghanstan who have been destroyed for the last 30 yrs from war and terror
great documentray going to be boradcasted across the world, shows you that newie isnt just a small town
