We had a quick day and a half in Agra, where we started our time with a lovely rooftop dinner, looking out at the Taj. One of those unbelievable moments when I realized I was actually looking at this amazing monument that people always talk about and dream of visiting!

The next day we had a whirlwind tour of all the sights of Agra, with our lovely rickshaw driver, Ali. We got to the Taj early in the morning and saw it at first light. It was truly beautiful but I wasn't as touched by it emotionally as many people say they are. We visited the Baby Taj and Agra Fort as well.  Ali took us to some other monument, with 'free' entry and a guy following us around to give us a 'free' tour, at then end of which he asked us to give him some money for showing us around...gotta love India! Then we went across the river to see the Taj from the back. Lots of photos!

I'm glad I saw the Taj but I have to say that although I felt it was an obligatory stop to a trip in India, it wasn't the most exciting part of my India trip thus far.

taj
even though the taj did not woo you, i'm excited to see pictures, since i did not have the chance to allow it to attempt to woo me haha.

i think the reason you weren't so impressed is because you've seen so many amazing (non-touristy) things in india that this is just not impressive compared to it. it's like you're a local now and you dont care for the touristy stuff, kinda like how we all hate times square... except i'm sure the taj is still way cooler than times square :)

Re: taj
I know a lot of people who just skipped seeing the Taj because they would rather stay and learn more yoga. Compared to what we were learning about ourselves and the world, a building just wasn't so exciting. I mean, yes, it is amazing, and yeah, a bit cooler then Time Square, but just not as touching or spiritual as what I had been doing for the month prior to going there! But, yeah, next time you are in India, I would recommend stopping by, if you have the time :-)
