Steve Irwin Zoo, on the other hand, was excellent! I'm not a fan of zoos generally as it doesn't seem right to cage animals but here the animals had bucket loads of room and, it appeared, freedom to roam for miles.

The African animals that they'd imported had a field about the size of Shropshire to wander around. The wallabies and kangaroos had acres and were constantly being fed (roo food) by the punters. The koalas - yes, I've seen one at last!! In fact, I've stroked one as well - were just sleeping wherever they wanted to.

The crocs were crocs and the snakes were snakes and we saw wombats, echidnas, lizards and all sorts.

And the picture of the taipan, though it's not much, is for you Becks...

I think a caged taipan is by far the best kind so I'll accept that, especially as you've turned me all gooey with the koala!!!! Beaut!
