Murder at JFK

It wouldn't be a Jurica's vacation without some sort of airport snafu. We had been planning this trip for a while. We booked again through Friendlyplanet.com. It is only flights, airport transfers and hotel. We are doing everything else on our own.
Our flights for the international portion of our trip leave from JFK. We have six of our friends going with us with a wide range of travel experience. These are our players:
Cory and I:
married, 31 and 36, traveled all over North America, all over Europe, Asia, and Africa
Jeremiah:
Single, 31, travel within North America, travel all over Europe as a teenager, travel to China with us in 2005,
Paulie:
Single, 40, some travel in North America and a trip to Italy and London for our wedding. Has told us that he is our child and that he will just follow us wherever we go.
Christina:
Single, 33, Some travel in North America and Europe
Heather:
Single 33, Some travel in North America and this is her first trip over the pond
Cory, Paulie and I rode together to the airport. Since we are traveling as pairs Jeremiah was supposed to meet Paulie at the ticket counter to check in together at the Jet Blue ticket counter. Jeremiah had all of the tickets and information for Paulie so when we got to the airport and didn't see Jeremiah we thought he must have been delayed in traffic. So we waited. As the time started to slip away Cory and I went ahead and checked in, then we waited, we waited some more, and some more and some more......Finally we went back to the desk with Paulie in tow. We explained the situation. This was when we found out that Jeremiah had already checked in and went to the gate. We had been waiting for him for an hour. Because it was e-tickets Paulie could check in with nothing more than his passport.
Our elation soon turned to despair... Yes Paulie could check in but the ticket agent said that there was no way that we were going to make our Jet Blue flight to JFK. She was great and did a little work on the computer and put us on a standby list for the next flight to JFK. Luckily we had a long layover in JFK.
At this point I was trying to calm Paulie down. We had a little extra time to have some breakfast... Mmmm our last bit of McDonald's for the next 2 weeks. We had our breakfast and head right to the gate to try to avoid any other snafus.
Luckily right by our gate was a bar!!!! Yes it is before noon but it has been a hell of a day so a couple of drinks might be good. Orange juice and vodka is a breakfast drink right? So after waiting an hour they call Cory and I... but no Paulie. They are able to get two of us on this flight and then in another 30 minutes there is another Jet Blue flight.
Poor Paulie, as we boarded the plane without him his eyes started to well up with tears. He was counting on us to be his parents and walk him through everything. Now we were leaving him in the Orlando airport to fend for himself. I left him with strict instructions not to have another drink because he needed to be sober to make his connections. As our plane taxied down the run way we could see his face pressed against the glass watching us leave him.
