During the early morning around 1 am while we slept we began setting courses towards Antarctic Sound. Ice conditions quickly became heavy. This made entering the sound particularly hazardous. We did not proceed any further. We Crossed the Bransfield Strait towards Admiralty Bay.

By the time that we got up and running Paulie had already headed to spin class. He had his eye on the instructor and thought that his biking abilities might be impressive! Something that seems pretty weird about this cruise is that the things that are usually all inclusive aren't. We have done a few other cruises and it seems weird that for some of the classes there is a charge. Paul paid 10 bucks to sweat on a bicycle seat. There is a charge for the Sunday bar. They even charge for your sodas with dinner. Our purchase of the all you can drink soda sticker has been a good choice. The only free beverages on board are plain coffee, water and tea. They do have free orange juice during breakfast.

We passed into Admiralty bay around 1 in the afternoon. We stopped to pick up a couple of scientist from the Polish Artowski base on King George Island. They came aboard and discussed what it is like to be stranded on Antarctica during winter. Truthfully I think they came aboard to get cigarettes and liquor. We saw them later at the pool bar drinking margaritas. It is their summer after all. Our afternoon break was hot chocolate chip cookies and milk... Delicious. The Scientists left for their base while we remained a little longer enjoying the spectacular scenery. The weather was finally beautiful.
