As the sun set the music and the relaxed mood of those around was enough to rival any cafe del mar.
Colonia.....absolutely stunning port town. Cobble streets lead you round and up and down to discover piazza after piazza in theis gorgouse little Uruuguan outpost. Along with sampling th local seafood and appreciating the cafe culture, you can explore the history of the town through itīs different landmarks and quaint basillican and can even go up an impressive lighthouse. Parts of the old wall remain among lush green arbres which back onto water. Therī`s a promenade around the marena which is romantically quiet and picturesque as you look out onto islands off of the coast. The beach is tranquile and better than any I have been on. I was the only tourist among twenty or so Uurguayans on a long stretch of coast; the only noises were the water lapping the sand and the acpustic chill out ryhtms coming from a cafe bar risen above the beach.
