Ok so finally made it to Italy! After 5 hours to Toronto and then another 9 to Rome, it was a long flight. I have to say though that while I am trying hard to not be materialistic first class is so much better than economy! For those of you that don't know I would never pay for a first class ticket but I have wonderful parents with lots of air miles so we got to fly first class. From Toronto to Rome I had what I can only describe as my own cube! The seat folds down into a bed, which I am now convinced is the best invention besides the plane itself.
Ok so enough about my spoiled ass, yesturday was pretty much a wash just slept to try and adjust to the new time. Today was great we hit the colossuem first thing in the morning and didn't even have to wait, just bought the ticket and walked in, almost an hour later the line snaked around the whole building, we also got to roam around with almost no one around. Thank you Rick Steves, when he says go first thing in the morning right at opening he is right!
So after that we took the bus tour around Rome, checked out Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, and walked for a bit. One of the most suprising things is Rome is covered in graffetti, coming in from the airport you just see garbage and graffetti, its not so bad in the tourist areas but it still mades the city not to appealling.
So tomorrow its off to Vatican and St.Peters maybe try and sneak in a little shopping :) Then Wednesday its off to Sorrento, it will be nice to get to somewhere a little more peaceful, Rome feels so crazy.
Well I'll try to update soon in Sorrento, hope everything is well. Ciao
