Our house, in the middle of our street.
We arrived at the city of sails around midnight to find the weather was heavy rain, strong winds and very cold. Missing Fiji already. There was no bus into the city after 11pm so we crawled off into the departures lounge and went to sleep. At 6 the next morning we were woken up by a small kiwi shouting at her dad,
"Dad, DAD, DAD!!!, look at these tramps" It was time to leave.
Luckily the bus service started up again at 6 and so we went outside to find it was still pitch black, blowing a gale and hammering with rain. Why did we come here, mid-winter. For the first time, since leaving the UK, the bus driver didn't try to rip us off, and we trundled off to find a hostel.
Anyway, we've now spent our first week walking around and sorting various things out. We found a flat share in a huge house, 14 rooms and about 18 flatmates. Very lively house, most European countries are represented in the house and so far there has been a party on most nights.
Kat is on school holidays this week but she has been visiting her new classroom sorting out her resources and meeting the other staff.
I have been job hunting and have two interviews set up for this week.

Last Sunday was excellent, we met up with some old Bristol friends who emigrated here two and half years ago, Simon and Shirley Pastiroff. They mentored us with our marriage preparation course, 3 years ago! They were glad to hear we were still together, hahaha. Simon and Shirley still have English accents but their kids, Frankie and Jonah have really broad kiwi accents, very funny. Try changing your a's to e's to sound kiwi, so Dan becomes Den and Kat becomes Ket. They have a really cool house on the coast with a huge sea view and fields around one side.
