And so the end is near, the time has to come, to fly away from South America.

The continent will be fondly remembered for a six month period traveling around spending about a month in each country. Too many highlights to mention here, but Kat worked out we have taken over 60 long distance bus journeys covering easily more than 7000 road miles. I worked out our percentage of sanity lost due to bus journeys is about 10%.

The plan now is to get back on the ocean. On may 3rd we fly into Tahiti in the French Polynesia area. The hurricane season is over and the trade winds have started blowing in a westerly direction so were going down to the docks to make a bit of a nuisance of ourselves and try to crew on a boat heading towards Fiji. The Pacific ocean is pretty vast, add together all the oceans in the world and you have the size of the Pacific. The distance we are going to travel, from Tahiti to Fiji is only a short portion, about 3000 km. Happy days.

We have arranged a homestay in Tahiti using this website - couchsurfing.com. The idea is you register your home and offer strangers a free bed and some good hospitality. Really looking forward to spending a week living with a French family, we found on the website, in the Tahiti capital Papeete.

Cooper Out
