Been a real eye opener over the last couple of days. On the way out of Lima are hundreds of shanty towns housing millions of poverty-stricken Peruvian families. The homes are little more than a pile of bricks with little or no roof. but it never rains here.  Manuel, our guide has experienced rain once in his life.  Cuzco where we stayed on Wednesday night was devastated last August by an 8 on the Richter-Scale earthquake.  700 people were killed.  Our hotel was one of the few intact buildings.
Today we went by speed-boat out to Ballestas Island, which is heavily populated with sea-lions, penguins, and many varieties of sea birds.  Its touted as the mini Galapagos.
Then it was off to a  winery to taste the famous Pisco Sour and then to an oasis for dune-buggying in a sand desert of monstrous dunes.  Like the best roller-coaster ride or something out of Mad Max!  Michael sand-boarded down massive steep sand cliffs!
In Nazca tonight, canīt wait to add photos words donīt do the last 24 hours justice.
