Another unexpectantly long bus ride saw us arrive in Quito on the eve of Ecuadors first World Cup game foe 06. The day of the game arrived and there was a buzz in the air as the crowd anticipated a mamoth performance. We happened to run into John, a very funny Pom who Gus and Luke had meet on the islands. The 4 of us expected a riot regardless of the outcome. In the native colors we marched onto the street and were interviewed by 3 camera crews who were wondering why we were supporting Ecuador over Poland, stupid question really. After the win the streets exploded into a joyious swarming of cars in the streets. At one stage Luke and I rode through the street in the back of a ute untill one fan shouted and pointed at us screaming "Blancos!" At first the intentions of the crowd seemed as if we were in for a good old fashion soccer riot ass kicking but instinct kicked in and the two of us going bisurk in the back of the ute, jumping and screaming won the mobs approval as fellow rioters and they mearly attempted to overturn the car and when this failed fit as many people in the back as possible. The driver then freaked and we were all forced to jump from the moving car.
