The Final Stop

We flew from Bali to Malaysia (KL) and then to Bangkok to make our final flight. We had a full day and a bit in Bangkok and when we were wandering down Koh San Road Ben kept running into people he'd met in the Phillipines. We also ran into Miriam and Raoul our Dutch friends. We caught up over some beers. We also got sick just before we left - we blame Dave the bringer of sickness. This made our plane rides awful as the aircon really tickled our sore throats. Only one delay and finally we made our way back to Washington. The customs guys were not impressed than Ben and I do not have 'proper' jobs or that we'd been bumming around Asia for the last 7 months. They need to categorize us so next time we'll think of a category for them to slot us into like photojournalist. After 7 months of hot, hot summers we got into freezing weather. I cannot believe how cold it is here. Soon we'll be in the snow and that will be worse as all my winter clothes are elsewhere. Didn't think about that when I packed...Today I was talking to my great friend Emma on the phone and she asked me what I had gained as far as how the experience had changed me and I really didn't know what to say. I don't feel like I have changed although I had to act differently all the time and deal with things not like I am used to. If I could have gained one thing I hope it is patience. Ben is always the calm one (which I am sure is the reason for my lack of patience in some situations - we offset each other). We had a fantastic time and also put up with a lot of things we wouldn't normally want to. I can't believe 7 months has gone since we flew out. It will be no time at all till our next adventure.
