Batad is one of the greatest little villages I have ever been too. This little village is nestled on the side of a huge moutain that is covered in Rice Terraces. It took us 2 hours to hike to this small little place but it was soooooooo worth it. We stayed in this little guesthouse that overlooked the awsome terraces. My room cost me 2 dollars and the view was spectacular. Unfortunaly it drizzeled on us the entire time we were there so I was unable to get a really good pictures of the terraces. The main activity here is hiking around the terraces and soaking up the scenery. You could not walk anywhere there with out either going sharply up or down. So nobody goes for a lesiurly stroll without sweating balls and breathing hard. We kicked it there for a day and half before heading back to Banuea which is also know for its rice terreaces. There are signs that say 8th wonder of the world everywhere...who knows if thats true or not. Our guesthouse did not have elecitcty at night so everthing was candle light and if you wanted a hot shower you have to order it the day before because they boil water in cauldron over the fire. (then you pour it on youself) The villagers there have their own lauange as well as Tagalo and were super freindly. Dave and I played scrabble against the lady that owned the guesthouse and she kicked our asses!
When we decided to go the next day we were told that we might be able to catch a ride back into town if we were lucky, otherwise we would have to walk the 18k back to town after our 2 hour hike. Guess who was not lucky? Yep we ended up walking the entire way back to town. Pretty yes, Lucky no.
