Hiking in the clouds.

Cameroon Highlands are famous for their high altitude tea plantations. Although this sounds about exciting as Matlock, the place was actaully very scenic, green and cool. It's a great place to escape the insane heat. Basically I took a bus there, stayed in a huge long house dorm and hiked around in the clouds. It was seriously cold and wet and after one day of this I was ready to be hot and sweaty again. After weighing the option of going for a guided tour of the place or striking out on my own I came to the conclusion that I could do the place by myself for way cheaper than a organized tour. So the next day I set out with map in hand on my way to climb the highest moutain in the highlands (we would call it a hill) and check out the tea plantations. 4 hours of hiking led me to the top of the highest moutain with a glorious view of......clouds, couldn't see a damn thing. On the way down the other side of the mountains I ran into some Singaporeans who had taken a car up the other side of the mountain and were going on a 5 min excusrsion into the forest. So I tagged along to see if I could get any free info. Their guide showed them a carniverous flower and some pretty cool view points (more clouds) that I would had missed if I had not poached a little bit of their tour. As I continued on I walked through the huge rolling green hills of the tea plantations. This place was absolutely massive and worth the effort it took to get there. The only problem is that I had no one to take my photo, it was such a cool place. So the pics you see of me are all auto timer taken from rocks or tree stumps! I hitched back into town. The cool part about Malaysia is that the moment I stuck out my thumb I was picked up by the second car that drove by. It must be because I'm a westerner. Now I know what it's like to be a hot chick trying to get a ride!
