Lovina isn't that much of an exciting place so after our great dive we headed South to Kuta, but stopping in at Tulumben on the way. The drawcard of this place is the wreck of the US cargo ship 'Liberty' and reef that has grown on it. We decided to get our new driver to take us there for a couple of hours to snorkel and then keep driving. The beach is rocky the rocks were small and smooth, but still hurt to walk on. Ben & I had to hire equipment and once we were out 20 mtrs at the wreck we realised how faulty our masks and snorkels were. The fish were amazing, but we could only look for 2 seconds before our masks fogging up. We decided if we could find a dive shop to take us for a good price and right away - we'd go diving. Ben did the grunt work and found us a place that had no prior commitments and brand new equipment. It was so exciting, but we had to walk to the water's edge with our tanks strapped on which was really difficult and the dive master had to hold on to me for my balance. The wreck was fantastic, there were gazzillions of colourful fish and I saw a little seahorse type fish and we saw a stingray. Once again no certification checks and a chill master. Bali has by far the best diving I've done in my short diver's life. The only mishap of the day happened to me. As usual there were many clown fish of all sizes and colours in many anemonies. When you approach a big one will normally leave his home and come up to challenge you or check you out. As we were headed back to shore I came across some particularly large clown fish, one of which darted straight out to meet me. I stuck my finger out to it as divers always do and the little thing gave me a warning nip. I squealed and as I started to leave he came back and bit me hard, leaving me bleeding with teeth marks on my pinky. I squealed again and then looked beyone me to where Corky was close by. He'd seen the whole thing. I didn't know what to do so I booed the fish underwater and gave it the thumbs down. Nemo bit me!!!!
Once back in the car we asked our driver to take us to a cheap place for lunch. About 15 mins later he passed the test and took us to a fantastic little restaurant with really cheap smoothies, soups, noodles and jaffles. We ate so much food and didn't spend more than $1.50 each. A few hours later we were in Kuta in crazy traffic. We decided to head a couple of kms North of Kuta to Legian Beach as it was less touristy. Despite this there were tourists (mainly Aussies) all over the place. Michelle & I camped out at a restaurant while the boys tried to find a place close to the beach within our budget. No luck so we went towards Kuta and away from the beach. We settled on a place that was a bit nicer, but still just a block back from the beach. It also had a great restaurant next to it that had pretty good prices, great food and if you sat down to drink in happy hour you'd get your beer at that price all night. We couldn't afford not to eat there.
