FOR PHOTOS OF KL PLEASE GO TO THE 2ND KUALA LUMPUR ENTRY AS I ACCIDENTLY PUT THE PHOTOS THERE
For B'fst on our final day we had a trendy Singaporian dish of really runny eggs with soya sauce (make mine hard please), coffee, french toast & toasted bread with a sweet coconut paste inside which was sooooo good. The girls were so sweet to us while we stayed there and we were so grateful for the break from intensive travel. When we left they gave us a little care package to take with us as well as some nice new (and clean) t-shirts. Our bus to KL was super luxurious with arm chairs and a TV. The heat hit us hard when we got off the bus and I was happy to follow a guy through the crowds to his cheap hostel. We ran into some girls from Montreal we've been bumping into since Thailand (Layla & Annie). Ben and I wandered around China Town which is known for its markets. We ate local food for lunch and decided to walk to the Menara Telecom Tower which is the 3rd tallest in the world. We got up the top for sunset and got a free audio tour. The views were amazing. KL is so futuristic with all its tall buildings and gigantic malls. We saw lots of muslim women dressed in the robes that completely cover them except their eyes. We walked to the famous Petrona Towers which are hailed as the tallest buildings in the world. That would be true except that they're not - the Sears Building in Chicago is I think. They cheat by including the spires in their measurement. There's a mall under the towers and I think it's the biggest mall I have ever seen. Malaysia just kept amazing us. It's so much more modern and clean than we would have expected, even the beggars dress well and are very few. Outside the mall is a pond with a fountain and paths going everywhere. Lots of people sit down here at night and watch the fountain. KL is very photogenic and pretty. We visited well known monuments and parks like Mereka Square, Lake Gardens (a massive botanical gardens), the National Mosque and to another massive mall. This one was in Times Square and had an amusement park up on the 11th floor complete with rollercoaster. I don't think they have malls even this big in America. We caught trains and monorails and walked a lot. That night we sat up on the top of our hostel & Annie brought her guitar and played 'Smelly Cat'. So many nationalities all up on one roof, drinking beer and looking at the gorgeous view.
