La Fortuna is a bustling little town with tour operators everywhere as well as over-priced trips. Instead of parting with a substantial amount of money, we opted to walk to the local waterfalls. Very hot but excellent walk, saw heaps of birds including a toucan and aracari (mini toucan). Very colourful beautiful birds and it is evident that in contrast to countries like Vietnam, not every animal gets eaten as soon as it moves. We also saw the first agouti (guinea pig on steroids) and a basilisk lizard . Poor Sarah is getting a bit tired of the twitching but that will be compensated by some zip-lining once we get to Monteverde .The Spanish is improving although I'm sure I sound like an absolute retard
Hmm, anyway - there will be no zip-lining for me, I would rather eat peas - there aren't enough chemicals in the world to get me on one of those things - it would be hard enough just climbing up to the platform (this is only a short zip-line near where we are today: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pzPMUO-TRts&noredirect=1) the ones at Monteverde are longer apparently.
It's lovely and humid here - I am a pleasant shade of beetroot most of the time. Today it contrasted quite delightfully with my green t-shirt - I can see a new fashion trend developing. Fortunately, when we finally arrived at the entrance to the waterfall after a 5km uphill stroll, I looked as bad as everyone leaving as they'd just walked up 600m in 400 odd steps. I'm beginning to think I am best suited to city breaks!
