Travelling from Berlin to Prague was an interesting experience. Watching `western europe` give way to the east... On the train I met a couple of Irish guys who were travelling to Prague just to watch a football game... as soon as we entered the Czech republic the scenery immediately changed. From the flat German plains to a pretty river valley leading all the way to Prague.
Hopping off the train I experienced how different Germany is from the Czech Republic. No signs to help you orientate yourself. Nothing in english and no tourist information.
I eventually found the hostel `sir toby`s` in a quiet neighbourhood out of central prague. It wasn`t till the next day that i found out what a huge tourist city it is... though like nearly any tourist city you just need to walk a little away from the sights and you find the real city... where the streets arnt all paved and there are no tourist kıtsch to be found.
Prague IS beautiful and I really enjoyed the city. Especially the quirky underground bar we visited.. complete with orange juicers for lights and foose ball tables hanging from the ceiling playing ıtself...
The castle and old town are really pretty.. the view from the cathedral is beautiful (whıch you may one day see if ı upload a picture) but the best thing was just wandering around a city which is not western europe .... yet. (though as I found out through the rest of ex-communist europe it would be a lot more developed had the russians dictatorship not wrecked the country for 40 years)
turkish keyboards have an `ı` in the place of `i` a real pain to type!
