We spent two days in Postojna, which is a small town an hour outside of Ljubljana. Although a little cold, we had two beautiful and sunny days there filled with the bluest skies you ever saw and green rolling hills. We rented mountain bikes our first day and rode through the forest as well as some of the pastures. We got the map to do the 40 km ride, but probably only did 10 km of it because we're both lazy and out of shape. But it was a fun ride and so picturesque that it looked like we were riding through postcards. The second day we went to Postojna Cave, which is this humungous cavern with something like 200 km worth of trails inside. On the tour, you get to ride an electric train, which kind of looks like the carts on a rickety roller coaster minus any safety bars. The train goes pretty fast and gets really close to the rocks, which makes it pretty fun. You see some very cool stalagmites and stalactites, and the whole thing is pretty sweet. We thought about going spelunking, which is when you explore and crawl through little caves and tunnels, but the lazy and out of shape thing got in the way again. Overall, it was a very pleasant stay with few major ups and downs. Next step: Croatia.
