Hoi An is another cute little town and probably the best place in S.E. Asia to get any tailoring done.  Maybe not the best but certainly the most competitive with the majority of shops all being tailors.

We're getting lazy now folks as we flew to here from Hanoi! Flight was just over an hour and we met a nice ozzie couple who suggested sharing the 45km trip into town as you land in Danang.  They got dropped off at an all inclusive resort and we asked to be dropped to the town, backpacker style!  After arguements with the taxi man about him taking our bags out of the taxi into a hotel we didnt ask to go to and convincing a hotel receptionist her hotel was nice but its in the middle of nowhere we finally gave up after he dropped us to another hotel we just got out shouted expletives, short changed him and ran to a coffee shop.  Its hectic being back in 35 degree heat you know!

We got a few tips from an ex-pat canadian and a norweigan girl talkaholic we finally got to our nearly cold vietnamese coffee.  We ended up staying in the hotel we got dumped at last and it was pretty cool, nice rooms, balcony over the pool, cheap and not too far from the town.  This is where the beauty of Hoi An starts.  We met a vietnamese girl who told us about her 'mom's' tailor shop etc etc.  We knew this scam but I was strangly still interested to see how it all works.  We promised her we'd go later, maybe.

Twenty minutes later she caught us cycling down the road and she near skidded on her moped and dragged us into the shop.  Well after half an hour of seven vietnamese girls telling you how pretty you are and how they would love your white skin sure you could hardly refuse not to get something tailored! Im a sucker I know!  I stuck to my guns though and just settled for trousers, a coat (which originally was supposed to be a cardigan but came back as a coat) and a skirt.  Long story short the coat turned out not too bad and she did as many changes as I wanted, the skirt isnt great and the trousers fit perfect and look like any normal pair of trousers you'd buy in any shop at home.  It was pretty cool though, they make everything and anything not as good as at home but still.  They measure you and call out all the measurements in under 2 minutes and have your clothes pretty much finished by 10am next morning! I went in at 4pm that day! They do poke you a little though, stand and stare while you change and they were strangely obsessed with my chest! hhhmmm

Hoi An is cute though with a beach just up the road, a market, hundreds of tailors, a couple of sights and an old village style to it.  The river was a nice area too and we got to see all of it by hiring bikes for a dollar a day!  Good times but even a few hours at our pool and we're still not quite motivated to get a 15 hour old bus when its cheaper another way....so we are flying again! Sorry our carbon footprint is getting bigger by the day....
