We spent 2 days cruising the limestone islands of Halong Bay. Our guide Tuan was erratic but hilarious. He held both our hands crossing the road before we even got on the bus to Halong City for the tour. One thing noticeable about vietnamese men is that there is not a bad word said when two friends, both male, walk down the street arm in arm. Something a country boy like me just isn't used to, but hey, when in Rome..... or maybe not.

So we spent the two days cruising, kayaking and visiting a huge cave in Halong Bay with 11 other tourists. 6 of them we got to know while playing cards and drinking on the overnight stay. As it happend we also met 2 of them again, Emma and Phil, for a drink in Hanoi on our return from the trip.
All in all the trip could have been a lot better. There didn't seem to be much else to do other than sit around looking at the same thing over and over again and the food turned out to be a bit bad as we both got stomach upsets on our return. But as they say, nothing ventured nothing gained.
