A nice little guy kept up with us and told us about his guesthouse so in the end we decided to give him a go. I think Conor just wanted a go on his moped tho! So funny Sac (pronounced Zach, so dont laugh people) was about 19 and tiny and Conor looked huge behind him on the moped! Settled in to lovely accomodation and Sac told us the things to do in Luang Prabang. The town is cute and very chilled atmosphere. We got stung with crappy food that was overpriced though but we made up for it by going to a wine bar and ordering a few different bottles of wine and changing the giant wine glasses for each bottle, good fun!
The markets here were nice, everyone sells the same thing which doesnt make sense but each town has their own selection of things. This town's speciality here was handmade cushion covers, duvet covers etc. The duvet sets would have been lovely but there was no way I was luggin them around for two weeks! I bought a couple of small things from this pretty little girl who took a fancy to Conor. She was so cute and so delighted with her first sale of the night. There is supposed to be loads of french colonial buildings in the town as the whole town is a UNESCO world heritage site but we didnt explore that much and decided to head to a park instead where you can swim at the waterfalls. It was a beautiful park and the water was that light bluey green colour. Conor turned ten again jumping off the waterfall and asking the Laos kids could he swing on the rope from the tree into the water! He was crying like a kid nearly when it was time to go! Good fun. There was a giant waterfall further up the park also which was very beautiful. On the way back down to the town we met a couple of Laos kids who showed us their marching salute and then went into fight mode showing off their karate skills so Conor played along as you can see from the photos. They were good fun.
More temples, food, beer, cocktails and we were off again to the next town. Really nice time here and the Laos people are just as friendly as in Thailand. Everyone here seems to have a peace about them and they are very respectful to people in general which is a buddist way of life I suppose. Its a really nice place to travel.
